With Chris Chapman
24 February, 7 – 8.30 pm (Online)

During this evening, we will explore the link between poetry and prayer, drawing on some of George Herbert’s best loved poems. George Herbert’s poetry is deeply personal yet has a universal quality. Within his verse we see his love of music and gardening; his anxious self-doubt; his love of story and image; his preference for a spirituality of the heart and of wonder over dogmatic legalism; his simplicity in unfolding what is deep and beyond comprehension.
Christopher Chapman is a guest director of individually guided retreats for St. Beuno’s Jesuit Retreat Centre. Formerly he was Spirituality Adviser for the Diocese of Southwark. He is the author of Seeing in the Dark, Earthed in God, Send my Roots Rain: Refreshing the spiritual life of priests, and Doorways to Hope all published by Canterbury Press.
